Thursday was a many layer and stocking cap morning. The good news is the long range forecast for 4-18 looks good for golf. Plan to play.

The weather was no problem for new member Ray Dibenedetti who shot a one over par 72.The round included 4 birdies.

Low net honors went to Gary Lerro with a 11 under par 60 followed closely by Mike Ziobro with a 10 under 61.

10 of our players had rounds in the 80’s  and  66 LGA members managed to have scores under 100.

2019-April-04 Home Opener

What great weather we had for an opening day and what a great group to start.  We were over 100 to tee off the 2019 season this year. 

Rural went easy on all of you with a “drop your 3 worst hole” so you got a chance to get your golf legs under you.

December Meeting

The December meeting had over 80 in attendance this year and went off without a hitch. It was slightly colder than in past years so the golf part of the day didn’t have the amount of players we normally have.  Thanks to all who were able to attend.  Our league sign ups are looking good but we could always use some more members.  If you have anyone interested in playing in the group please direct them to this website or to reach out to Jay or Rural for more information.   Thanks to all of you for a wonderful 2018 and we are looking forward to 2019!!!!

There were nine skins. Since we had no contest on the par 3, a skin will win you $10.

In our team event our 27 teams were placed in four flights. The Wing Foot Flight has 6 3-man teams.The other flights are made up of 4-man teams.Par for this event is 142. Three of our teams were 17 under par. A score of 125.

All money will be paid at our 11-29 breakfast. Mark your calendar now . Time is 9am for breakfast.

Our weekly fee for the 2019 season will be $40 per week. We will collect $110 for the 2019 season. This is the first week.last week and the GHIN System.

The hole in one fund is $650.00

Jay is in charge of our golfing events and Richard and I will look after the finances of our club.

It has been my pleasure to lead the LGA and to be associated with some wonderful members and some good golfers with a love for this great game. I will continue to be a member and do everything I can do to keep our association moving forward.New members are our life blood.We need new members and I hope you will help us add new members. I am so glad Jay will be leading us in the future and I know he will do a great job.

We have two weeks remaining on our 2018 schedule. 9-27 & 10-4. Also mark November 29 2018 on your calendar. This will be our meeting to organize for our 2019 season. More information will follow.

CONGRATULATIONS to Tom Scully. Tom was our first winner on the 13th  closest to the hole on the second shot.Tom was 26″ from the hole and made the birdie.

No birdies on the 16th hole this week but Barry Cerino third shot found the bottom of the cup from 100+ yards. Barry was still smiling when I saw him in the parking lot.

The loudest celebration was on the 17th hole when Jim Starkey long putt found the bottom of the cup for a par.

Weekly Recap on the golf

98 members of the LGA played golf on an  extremely hot day at GRGC.My thanks to you for your support of the LGA.To my knowledge only three players dnf the round due to the heat.  Hope you are okay.

The heat,doctor visit,back problems and a variety of other reasons are impacting our attendance.We have four weeks left on our 2018 calendar. I am hoping our attendance will improve

This Thursday is hamburgers,hot dogs and french fries with Jay. This will be held in the banquet room immediately after the round. Please plan to stay and talk with Jay.

Thursday,October 4th is our final round of the season and our annual awards banquet. We will honor our match play winners and runner ups. Prime Rib will be on our menu.

Heat did not bother scoring some good golf was played.21 of our players shot in the 80’s and 33 players had scores in the 90’s and 60 players broke the 100 mark.

On the net side. How are you doing with your target score? This is your gross score minus your course handicap. Your course handicap is shown on your scorecard. From the white tees the target is 67 and 65 from the gold tees.We had 18 players with net scores of 67 or less. This is not easy.

Our event this week will be a team event . Your team will be your ” normal” pairing. We will use stableford scoring. All members of the team will contribute to the scoring.No skins.

On a great morning to play golf. The following players reached the final round for our 2018 LGA Championship.

Congratulations to these 8 players and also to all of our players who participated in the 2018 championship.Our awards banquet will be on Thursday,October 4.

We had 2 rounds in the 70’s last week.Troy Nikola shot 73. This is only 2 over par. Nice round Troy. Steven Salisbury had a 8 over par 79. Very good round Steve.

11 of our players had rounds in the 80’s. And a total of 52 players broke the magic 100 score.

On the net side  Ted Kurdes had a 9 under par 62 to be on top of the net leaderboard. Ted will be 90 early next month and is a long time member of the LGA.Ted was one of the 52 players to break 100. Nice day Ted!

We were playing skins and the 89 players were divided into four flights based on their course handicap. We were using stableford scoring. Go to our portal for the results.
