The Lacey Golf Association was founded in the early 90’s and was the brain child of Larry Nagel. It started with about 30 players from the Lacey/Forked River area. Larry was never much for doing anything small and within a few years he had grown the league to over 100 players. Larry’s Passion for golf and the Lacey Golf Association (LGA) was adopted by many in the group but none more passionate than Rural Gusler. When Larry was unable to continue and needed help keeping the league moving forward, long time member Rural Gusler took the reins and has been in charge for the better part of the last decade. The LGA is an experience no serious golfer could be without. As of today it is the largest (non-realestate) league in the state of NJ.
The LGA is always looking for players who are passionate about golf, competition and the camaraderie it offers. LGA plays every Thursday at 7:30 at Gambler Ridge GC. The LGA uses USGA handicaps to help create a level playing field for players of varying abilities. Weekly competitions include Net Score winners, Gross Score winners, Stableford, Hole in One prizes, Closest to the pin, and Best ball among many other types of competitions. The LGA also has a flighted match play championship annually which is incredibly popular and brings the best out of all the players. If you take a look at the Schedule Page you can see in addition to golf we have monthly banquets which are all included in your daily registration fees.
